Ablaze is made by one person, Arvin Rhen M. If you have a question, an idea or a problem, write to ablaze@arvinrhen.com. Arvin reads every email and usually replies within 2 days. Confirm: reply time

It helps to tell us your iPhone model, your iOS version, and what you were doing when something went wrong. A screenshot helps too.

If you're in danger

Ablaze isn't an emergency service, and nobody watches posts as they're written. If you or someone else is in danger, call your local emergency number now. If you're thinking about hurting yourself, please reach out to someone you trust or a crisis line today. You matter to God, and to us.

  • Philippines: call 911 in an emergency. The NCMH Crisis Hotline is free, day and night. Call 1553 from a landline, 0917 899 8727 or 0966 351 4518 (Globe, TM), or 0919 057 1553 (Smart, TNT).
  • United States: call 911 in an emergency. Call or text 988 for the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
  • Canada: call 9-1-1 in an emergency. Call or text 9-8-8 for the Suicide Crisis Helpline.
  • Australia: call 000 in an emergency. Call 13 11 14 or text 0477 13 11 14 for Lifeline.
  • Anywhere else: find a free helpline where you are at findahelpline.com. In many countries, 112 reaches emergency services from a mobile phone.

Confirm: check these numbers again before launch, as docs/research/crisis-lines.md asks

Your account

How do I delete my account?

Open Settings with the round button on Today, scroll to the bottom, tap Delete account and confirm. You'll need an internet connection. This deletes your account and everything of yours on our server, including your posts and your Ablaze+ backup. What's on your iPhone stays there until you delete the app. Our Privacy Policy explains exactly what's deleted.

Deleting your account doesn't cancel Ablaze+, because Apple bills it. Cancel it first, as described below.

Do I need an account?

No. You can read the Bible, do Daily Fire, keep notes and pray privately without one. You need an account, through Sign in with Apple, to share on the Prayer Wall or pray for others. You also need one to join a Fire Circle or back up with Ablaze+.

How do I change my first name or country?

Open Settings, then tap your name at the top. Your first name shows only on posts where you choose it, and to your Fire Circles.

Ablaze+

How do I restore Ablaze+ on a new iPhone?

Sign in to the App Store with the same Apple Account you used to buy Ablaze+. Then tap Restore Purchases in Ablaze's Settings, or at the bottom of the Ablaze+ page. To bring back your notes, prayers and progress too, sign in to Ablaze with the same Apple Account. Backup and sync does the rest.

How do I cancel Ablaze+?

Open your iPhone's Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Ablaze, and tap Cancel Subscription. You can also start in Ablaze: Settings, then the Ablaze+ card, then Manage. Cancel at least 24 hours before your plan renews. You keep Ablaze+ until the end of the time you've paid for.

Can I get a refund?

Apple handles every payment and refund for Ablaze+, so we can't refund you ourselves. To ask Apple, go to reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with your Apple Account.

What does Ablaze+ include?

The Ablaze+ page in the app lists everything it includes. Every Bible, Daily Fire, your streak, notes, prayers and circles of up to 12 stay free, with no ads.

The Prayer Wall and Fire Circles

How do I report a post or a comment?

Tap the three dots on it, choose a reason, and tap Report. In a Fire Circle, the three dots are on every post and comment that isn't yours, and reporting is the first choice there. What you report leaves your wall, circle and feed straight away, and only we see that you reported it. No one in a circle is told, not even its leader. A person reviews every report, and we act on it within 24 hours.

How do I block someone?

On the Prayer Wall, when you report a post, turn on Also hide this person. You won't see each other's posts on the wall or in the Feed. In a Fire Circle, tap the three dots on their post or comment and choose to block them. Then you won't see each other's posts or comments anywhere your names show. Posts shared anonymously stay as they are, so a block never reveals who wrote one. Either way, they aren't told. To undo it, go to Settings, then Blocked people. Someone you blocked in a circle shows there by their first name.

Something's wrong in my Fire Circle

Report the post or comment from its three dots, and a person on our team will check it within 24 hours. You can block the person who shared it there, too. The circle's leader can also remove posts, comments and members. You can leave a circle at any time from its page, and you can always write to us about anything in a circle.

How do I take down something I shared?

  • A prayer request: in the Prayer tab, tap What came back on the prayer, then Take it off the wall. It stays in your prayers, private again. Deleting the prayer takes it off the wall too.
  • A circle post: open it, tap the three dots at the top, then Take it down. To remove one of your comments, hold it.
  • A reflection or a seed story: write to us and we'll remove it. Confirm: no take-down button for these yet

Someone shared my story or photo without asking

Write to us and tell us which post it is. We'll take it down.

Your data and privacy

Where are my notes and prayers?

On your iPhone. Without Ablaze+, they never leave it. With Ablaze+, they're also backed up to our server, so they're on every iPhone you sign in to. You can turn this off in Settings, Backup and sync.

Can I get a copy of my notes?

Yes, with or without Ablaze+. Go to Settings, Backup and sync, then Export notes and journal. Your notes and journal come out as text you can save or send. Backup and sync shows in Settings once you're signed in. Confirm: export isn't reachable while signed out

I have a privacy question, or want a copy of my data

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and why. To ask for a copy of your data, a correction or an erasure, write to ablaze@arvinrhen.com. We answer within 30 days.

Notifications

How do I change notifications?

Go to Settings, then Notifications, to choose which ones you get and to set quiet hours. To turn them all off, use your iPhone's Settings, then Notifications, then Ablaze.

Bibles and credits

Ablaze has the King James Version, Ang Dating Biblia and Ang Salita ng Diyos. We never change the words of Scripture. You'll find every credit and licence in Settings, Credits and licences, and in our Terms of Use.

Still need help?

Write to ablaze@arvinrhen.com. Thank you for your patience while one person answers.
